The pinnacle of the Bike Packing “Adventure” Training Plan – is the Smoke ‘n Fire 400 annually held in September. You are not required to do the SnF400, but your dedication and training have led you to this challenging yet rewarding event, where the trail beckons and adventure awaits.

Plan Schedule:
January: Onboarding, TrainingPeaks, and ATP
- Fill out interview form and waiver
- Start a TrainingPeaks account and get devices synced
February: Foundations of Bike Packing Seminars Led By both Coaches
- Introduction to essential gear and bike setup.
- Basic navigation skills and route planning.
March: Physical Conditioning Presentation with Coach Stein
- Endurance-building rides with gradually increasing distances.
- Strength and flexibility exercises tailored for bike packing.
April: Technical Skills Training Weekend Mountain Bike Skills Course with Coach Stein
- Handling various terrains – gravel, dirt, and uneven trails.
- Bike maintenance workshop – fixing common issues on the go.
May/June: Mental Preparation Skills Practice and Group Rides
- Mindfulness and focus exercises for long endurance rides.
- Stress management and problem-solving strategies.
July: Trial Runs and Simulations First of two Overnighters – Led by Paul
- Short practice trips to test gear and skills.
- Overnight simulations to refine camping and cooking routines.
August: Final Preparations Second of two Overnighters – Led by Paul
- Fine-tune bike packing setup based on trial run feedback.
- Mental visualization and positive affirmations for the upcoming adventure.
September Adventure Week: Bike Packing Expedition Smoke n Fire 2024 – or alternate route
- Execute your planned route, applying all learned skills and strategies.
- Journal your experiences, challenges, and triumphs.
Post-Adventure Week: Recovery and Reflection Post Adventure Event
